Who is this for?

Dapoxetine is a unique, short-acting, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which has been clinically proven to be effective in the treatment of PE (Premature ejaculation.) in men aged 18 years or older. Approximately 27-34 percent of men between all age groups get affected by PE. Most of the men ejaculate sooner then they expect. Dapoxetine has been clinically proven to extend the length of time of sexual intercourse by between 200% and 400%.

How does it work?

SSRIs work by blocking a receptor in the brain that absorbs the chemical serotonin. Research suggests that neurotransmitter Serotonin is known to influence mood and behavior. SSRIs block reabsorption (reuptake) of serotonin and this increased serotonin improves mood. SSRIs have the power to mildly influence mood, outlook, and behavior. Although often positive, these same benefits can also be a cause of concern to many people. SSRIs are selective because they affect only serotonin not other neurotransmitters.

How long is it effective for?

Dapoxetine hydrochloride has a distinctive pharmacokinetic profile. While other SSRIs take around two weeks or longer to become effective, Dapoxetine hydrochloride reaches its maximum serum concentration, becoming effective in about one hour and being eliminated from the body's system within one to two hours. Twenty-four hours after the treatment, the plasma concentrations are less than five per cent of climax quantity. The conclusion is that this quick passing time through the body makes the drug appropriate for on-demand therapy.

Dapoxetine hDapoxetine has a relatively short 1/2 life of 2-3 hours - within this time the concentration of Dapoxetine in the plasma has metabolized to approximately 50% of it's initial concentration. Hence, optimum effect is within 30 mins to 2 hours after taking the medication.

How should I take it?

Spier Dapoxetine comes as a 60mg tablet to take by mouth with water. In clinical studies, Dapoxetine improved some patients' abilities to delay ejaculation by up to 400%.

Dapoxetine should not be taken more than once a day.

Follow the directions carefully, and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand. Take dapoxetine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Dapoxetine can be taken with or without food. However, do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol while taking Dapoxetine.

What side effects should I watch for?

Dapoxetine treatment is not without major side effects, however. These included:

• Nausea in 8.7 percent of men getting low-dose (60mg) and 20.1 percent of men getting high-dose Dapoxetine.
• Headache in 5.9 percent of men getting low-dose and 6.8 percent of men getting high-dose Dapoxetine.
• Diarrhoea in 6.8 percent of men getting high-dose Dapoxetine.
• Dizziness in 6.2 percent of men getting high-dose Dapoxetine.

If you become dizzy or nauseated call your doctor right away. You could be having a serious side effect. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome. This does not prevent pregnancy or the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). You should know that sexual activity may be a strain on your heart, especially if you have heart disease. If you have chest pain during sexual activity, call your doctor immediately and avoid sexual activity until your doctor tells you otherwise. Stop using this and get emergency medical help if you have sudden vision loss. Avoid drinking alcohol, which can increase some of the side effects.

When should I be careful taking it?

You should not take Dapoxetine if:

• You are allergic to dapoxetine or lactose, the ingredients of the SPIER Dapoxetine tablet.
• You have heart failure or other serious heart problems such as a heart arrhythmia.
• You have moderate or severe liver problems.

You should also not take Dapoxetine in conjunction with any of the following medicines:

• Meds used to treat depression called "monoamine oxidase inhibitors" (MAOIs)
• Other drugs used to treat depression
• Thioridazine used for schizophrenia
• Lithium, a drug used to treat bipolar disorder (Kerry Katona)
• Linezolid - an antibiotic
• Tryptophan - a sleeping pill
• St John's wort - a herbal medicine
• Tramadol - a strong pain killer
• Drugs used to treat migraines.

You must not take Dapoxetine concurrently with any of the above drugs. In addition, you must stop any of the above drugs a clear fourteen days before starting to take Dapoxetine.

If you stop using Dapoxetine, you will need to wait a clear seven days before starting any of the above medicines.

• Some medicines used to treat fungal infection, including ketoconazole and itraconazole
• Some medicines used to treat HIV, including ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir and atazanavir
• Some medicines used to treat infection, including telithromycin
• Nefazodone - an antidepressant

Do not take Dapoxetine if you are taking any of the above drugs. If you are not sure if the drug you are taking is safe to take with Dapoxetine, ask your doctor.

In any event, you should always fully disclose any medicines you are taking to your doctor before receiving a prescription for Dapoxetine.

You should not take Dapoxetine with alcohol, as the effects of alcohol may be amplified if taken in conjunction with Dapoxetine, leading to increased risk of fainting or other side effects.

You should also check with your doctor before taking Dapoxetine if:

• You have not been diagnosed with premature ejaculation
• You have ever had any type of mental health problem
• You use recreational drugs
• You have blood clotting problems, kidney problems, epilepsy or dizziness from low blood pressure

Before you start to take Dapoxetine, your GP should perform a test to ensure that your blood pressure doesn't drop too much when you stand up from lying down.
